The GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP) is a multiplatform photo manipulation tool. GIMP is suitable for a variety of image manipulation tasks, including image processing, photo composition, and image construction.
GIMP can also be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc.
GIMP is available for Unix, Windows, and Mac; and is known to work on GNU/Linux, Apple Mac OS X (Darwin), Microsoft Windows 95, 98, NT4, and 2000, XP, Vista, Windows 7, OpenBSD, NetBSD, FreeBSD, Solaris, SunOS, AIX, HP-UX, Tru64, Digital UNIX, OSF/1, IRIX, OS/2, BeOS and Linux.
As an Open Source Software application, GIMP is freely distributed and is released under the free software license GNU General Public License.
